PEA Philosophy

Students entering Eenchokay Birchstick School have an opportunity to develop a sense of pride in their goals.

The Pikangikum Education Authority and school staff strive to provide a learning environment in which people:

  1. Value one another unconditionally;

  2. Are fair and honest;

  3. See the school as a safe, beneficial educational environment;

  4. Feel that they belong and their presence and contributions are valued;

  5. Expect growth in themselves and others;

  6. View themselves as part of a cooperative team;

  7. Seek opportunities to improve;

  9. Plan and act upon plans.

PEA Objectives

The objectives of the PEA education system are to:

  1. Encourage use of the Anishinaabe language and promote pride in our Anishinaabe culture and heritage;

  2. Develop opportunities in the school curriculum, programs and school activities that encourage student appreciation of Anishinaabe culture and heritage and contribute to the development of a positive First Nations identity;

  3. Provide a positive environment that encourages students in the pursuit of learning;

  4. Encourage a sense of self-worth and respect for others;

  5. Deliver a varied and holistic school curriculum that provides programs and activities to encourage the development of civic, social and moral responsibilities;

  6. Encourage excellence in teaching and high standards of performance in learning;

  7. Provide an environment that is concerned with the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being of each student; and

  8. Promote the knowledge and attitudes that will help students to participate actively and successfully in society.
